During my motorcycle trip through South America I saw many amazing landscapes and a lot of peculiar cultural habits. However, the thing that caught my eye the most was the spectacular road kill. On the road I found many species of untouched animals in various states of decay.
I made dozens of photos of this interesting phenomenon and narrowed my selection down to seven images. The selection is not based on cruelty or type of animal, but on esthetics. I find it fascinating that something so sad and disgusting, can be so very beautiful.
I printed the seven selected photos using the platinum/palladium process. With this process I was able to get all the details of the original negative on paper and create a full tone spectrum print. The yellowish/brown tone gives the print a romantic feeling.
